Deadline Extended: Link Aadhaar with UAN by June 30 to Avail ELI Scheme Benefits, Says EPFO

Employees must act fast to secure benefits under the government’s ₹2 lakh crore Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme.

New Delhi, June 11, 2025 — The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has extended the deadline to activate Universal Account Number (UAN) and link it with Aadhaar and bank accounts to June 30, 2025. This move is crucial for those planning to avail benefits under the government’s flagship Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme.

Originally set for November 30, 2024, the deadline has seen multiple extensions to ensure maximum employee participation and compliance.

What is the ELI Scheme?

Announced during the Union Budget 2024–25, the ELI scheme is a bold government initiative aimed at creating over 2 crore jobs in just two years. With a total outlay of ₹2 lakh crore, the scheme is designed to:

  • Incentivize formal job creation across India

  • Support both employers and employees through financial subsidies

  • Boost youth employability with training and structured onboarding

  • Target over 4.1 crore young beneficiaries through jobs, training, and formal employment

The scheme includes three core programs tailored to bring more workers into the formal economy and increase social security coverage.

Why is UAN-Aadhaar Linking Important?

Activating your UAN is essential to access digital EPFO services like:

  • Viewing PF passbook and balance

  • Claiming withdrawals or advances

  • Fund transfers during job changes

Linking Aadhaar with UAN and bank accounts ensures that benefits and PF disbursements reach the correct recipients without delays or errors.

💡 Without linking Aadhaar to UAN, employees won’t be eligible to receive benefits under the ELI scheme.

🗓️ Final Deadline: June 30, 2025

This extension provides employees more time to complete the compliance process and take full advantage of the government’s employment generation push.

“The extension is a step toward ensuring no eligible worker is left out. We urge all employees to complete Aadhaar-UAN linking well before the deadline,” said an EPFO official.

🆕 Coming Soon: EPFO 3.0 Platform

The EPFO is also set to launch its EPFO 3.0 platform, designed to deliver a bank-like experience to users. The upgrade will include:

  • ATM-like PF withdrawals

  • Faster claims processing

  • Revamped grievance redressal portal

These enhancements aim to make EPFO services more user-friendly, accessible, and efficient for over 27 crore EPF subscribers nationwide.
