IndiGo Flight Faces Dust Storm Turbulence, Pilot Aborts Landing at Delhi Airport — Watch Shocking Video

New Delhi, May 26 – In a dramatic turn of events, passengers on IndiGo flight 6E 6313 from Raipur to Delhi were left shaken on Sunday evening as their aircraft was forced to abort landing due to a sudden and intense dust storm that engulfed the National Capital Region (NCR).

As the aircraft approached Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport around 5:15 pm, gusty winds reportedly reached up to 80 km/h, prompting the pilot to perform a go-around maneuver — a standard safety procedure where the plane climbs back into the air instead of completing the landing.

“Wind speeds have crossed 80 km/h, making it unsafe to land,” the pilot announced, assuring passengers that they would circle until the storm subsided.

The flight eventually landed safely after a tense delay, but not before the aircraft spent several minutes circling in turbulent skies. Video footage taken from within the cabin showed visibly anxious passengers and swaying overhead compartments as the aircraft battled heavy turbulence.

Weather Wreaks Havoc on Air Traffic

The incident coincided with a dust storm and light rainfall that swept across Delhi and NCR. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a fast-moving east-southeast cloud system had triggered winds reaching 50–80 km/h, catching many evening travelers off guard.

As per airport sources, at least four flights were diverted — one each to Chandigarh and Amritsar, and two to Jaipur — between 5:00 and 5:30 pm.

Flightradar24, a real-time flight tracking platform, reported that over 350 flights were delayed, causing widespread disruption at India’s busiest airport.

Climate Volatility and Aviation Safety

This event underscores the increasing volatility of weather conditions during North India’s pre-monsoon season. Aviation experts have warned that climate change may be exacerbating the intensity and unpredictability of storms, posing new challenges for air traffic management.

Passengers and aviation staff alike commended the IndiGo pilot’s quick thinking, which ensured the safety of everyone on board despite the difficult weather conditions.
