In a bold humanitarian move under Operation Sindhu, the Government of India has safely evacuated over 110 Indian students from Iran, as tensions between Iran and Israel continue to escalate.
The evacuated students, who arrived in New Delhi in the early hours of June 19, described the situation in Iran as “bad” and “critical,” particularly in cities like Tehran and Isfahan, while thanking the Indian government for their swift, doorstep-level evacuation effort.
✈️ Evacuation From Dormitory to Delhi
Students shared their emotional return journey, stating that they were picked up directly from their dorms in Iranian cities and moved to Mashhad, then safely flown to Yerevan, Armenia, before boarding a special flight to Delhi.
“We didn’t expect this much help. They evacuated us from our doors. It was smooth, no problems at all,” said Sheikh Afsa, a returning student.
Another student added,
“The situation was extremely tense. But we’re grateful to the Indian government. They ensured our safety every step of the way.”
