UP Police Deploys Tech, 45,000 Personnel for Safe Kanwar Yatra

Lucknow, July 13, 2025: The Uttar Pradesh Police have launched an expansive and technologically advanced security framework to oversee the Kanwar Yatra this year. With over 45,000 personnel and cutting-edge surveillance tools in place, officials aim to ensure a secure and peaceful experience for devotees.

High-Tech Surveillance: 40,000 CCTVs, 400 AI Drones

Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna confirmed the use of modern surveillance systems:

  • 40,000 CCTV cameras installed across the Kanwar route
  • 400 drones, many AI-enabled, feeding live visuals to zonal HQs
  • ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras to monitor traffic

Real-time footage is being transmitted to command centers for prompt response and crowd monitoring.

  • 2,040 Inspectors

  • 50 companies of Central and PAC forces
  • 1,424 Home Guards

Units from the RAF, QRT, and ATS have also been mobilized.

  • UP-112 vehicles are on 24/7 patrol.
  • Local divers and barricades positioned near rivers and canals.

Public Services Along the Route

To support pilgrims, the administration has established:

  • 1,845 water service centres
  • 829 medical camps
  • 1,222 police help centres
  • Control rooms in all major zones

Food safety authorities, accompanied by police, are inspecting dhabas to ensure hygiene and prevent misinformation by vigilantes.
